Welcome to General Certificate.co.uk - A specialist website from health and safety training course provider Associated Training and Consultancy which focuses specifically on the NEBOSH General Certificate and what the next available steps are after obtaining a NEBOSH General Certificate for progressing in your health and safety career.
The NEBOSH General Certificate was launched in 1989 and has been completed by more than 100,000 people, making it the most widely-held health and safety qualification in the UK. The Certificate covers the main legal requirements of health and safety in the UK, the identification and control of workplace hazards, and also the practical implementation of the information taught. The NEBOSH General Certificate is aimed mainly at managers, supervisors and other staff from virtually any type of organisation and industry, who need a health and safety training qualification which gives them a broad understanding of health and safety issues and how to manage health and safety risks effectively.
Our pass rate for the NEBOSH General Certificate is well above the national average, and is in fact one of the highest in the UK! This is because unlike a lot of other health and safety training providers we strictly limit the number of delegates on each course, rather than trying to cram in as many as we can sell. This allows the course tutor to give the necessary time and attention to each delegate, addressing any queries they may have, to ensure that the course material is fully understood. We also do not run the course on a "one day a week" basis spread out over many weeks, which means the delegate will be much less likely to have forgotten the information taught at the beginning of the course when it comes to doing the exams at the end! In our many years of experience, we have found this method of training candidates on the NEBOSH General Certificate leads to much higher pass rates.
The NEBOSH General Certificate syllabus covers the following areas of health and safety for the workplace environment:
The NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (to give it its full title!) is awarded to those delegates who complete the course and pass the examinations. The examinations consist of two written exams which last two hours each, and a practical assessment that involves a safety inspection of a work site and the production of a written report under exam conditions.
The NEBOSH General Certificate is accredited at Level 3 within the National Qualification Framework (NQF) by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland. The NEBOSH General Certificate also meets the requirements for Technician membership (TechIOSH) of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health), as well as Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
After completing a NEBOSH General Certificate qualification, many candidates progress to working towards obtaining a NEBOSH Diploma.
We run the NEBOSH General Certificate as open courses throughout the year at various venues within the UK: Nottingham, London, Manchester, Reading, Warrington and Bradford. We are also able to come to your premises and deliver the NEBOSH General Certificate course, taking away the hassle for you of having to organise travel arrangements for all your staff.
